Duration of a party is usually 3 hours – about 2 hours in the farmyard, with an additional hour if you want to book an outdoor picnic area or the indoor Birthday Barn for food, gifts etc.
Admission
Birthday Parties during our Main Season (April to September) pay general admission upon arrival. We’ll have you bring an attendee list (of those folks you wish to pay for) when you arrive, so we can quickly calculate your admission fees to make things easy for you. We will admit your guests as they arrive so you do not need to wait at the gate for them!
At least one supervising adult is required for every 3 children.
There is a 10% discount on admissions for groups of 20 or more folks paid in one transaction. Large parties will need to bring an attendee list and pre-pay when you arrive.
Food & Drink
You may bring in your own food and drink (if using a caterer, they must be self contained). You need to leave your picnic area clean and tidy for the next group (like camping: pack it in, pack it out).
Cancellation Policy
Party Options are non-refundable. If the weather is inclement at the time of booking, you may rebook your additions to another day at no charge, or you may take your additions fees in an equivalent value of Day Passes to Butterfield Acres.

We had a really fun afternoon yesterday at Butterfield Acres. However, a large family was in attendance and they somehow let all of the baby pigs out of the pen. I don't know how they could have screwed that up since precautions are taken such as double gates and an abundance of signs EVERYWHERE asking people to be cautious and... read more respectful. These people were neither. There was a specific sign on the baby pigs enclosure requesting that everyone be quiet and calm as the babies were new to the petting area. Not only did they let them ALL out, but then the whole family chased the babies all over the farm screaming and waving their arms, creating hysterics from the baby pigs and their mother. Many people did not want to join in the ridiculous chase because more idiots running around means even more panic for the animals. I went running around looking for a farm hand and this is why I dropped a star: when I finally saw a young man and said these people let out all the pigs, he did not respond to me but went over to this family and praised them for getting all the babies back in their pen. These people were stupid and they should not have been praised. The family left immediately, hopefully thoroughly embarrassed. I would have been more impressed had they been kicked out. So while I enjoyed our visit, I'm not 100% convinced of the staffs' concern for the animals' welfare.

August 7, 2026We had our daughters 8th birthday and we booked another petting zoo who cancelled on us the day before and Butterfield Acres went above and beyond for her birthday and made her day so special! Thank you so much !

July 13, 2026WAY too expensive!!! $17 for a 2 year old!!! 🤣 Calgary Farmyard offers a lot more for a lot less when you have a young child. I'm not paying $17 for my 2 year old who won't get much out of the experience. But I will go to the Calgary farmyard where it's free for my child and fun can still be had.

June 30, 2026A wonderful place to take the whole family. The kids (and the adults) enjoyed their visit and had fun interacting with the animals. It was a pleasant experience. The staffs were amazing!

May 23, 2026We went to baby days this year and within about 10 days our family was so so ill with a parasite. Even with the hand washing stations it’s so easy for a child to put their hand near and eye or mouth. Sadly after the month we have been through, we won’t ever be doing a petting zoo again. It... read more felt like they opened right back up and brushed things under the rug.

We had a great time at Butterfield Acres during the spring babies event! Highly recommended if you have young children in your family.

May 3, 2026Maybe we needed to go earlier in the season, but it was 75% goats. Not saying goats aren't cute but I expected some more "spring babies" as per the name of the event. Also, was pretty excited at the possibility of feeding the baby goats but only children were prioritized. We paid for a ticket, and would have loved... read more that experience. If adults aren't really able to be a part of that, it should be specified in the ticket. Felt like a waste of money as there just wasn't much to see really. Side note: the animals didn't seem to be too happy either, pretty sad.

April 20, 2026Took the family out for their "baby animal festival" and we had a blast. My 2yr old loved all the baby goats jumping around. We ended the day by having smores by the fire. Would recommend bringing your little ones to learn about farm life and farm animals.
