hear from teachers that Butterfield Acres is their favorite field trip. For over 30 years we've lived by our motto of "Farming, Fun, and Learning", and have given thousands of Calgary's children and teachers an authentic taste of farm life. We now regularly come across excited Teachers who came
here as children themselves, and are excited to share the experience with the next generation!
are child centered and very hands-on,a and support many cirriculum objectives. You'll be amazed by how much the children learn being in this environment for such a short time. To make your trip run as smoothly as possible, we provide a comprehensive field trip information package for both Teachers and Parents. As always… we've got wonderful friendly farm critters waiting for your students
to visit! We get many compliments on our field trip organization, and we have received many Parent's Choice Awards.
1. Harvest Pumpkin Hunts (through October)
With fall comes the time to harvest and time to have a little fun with the fruits of the harvest! Climb aboard one of our big wagons and take a gentle rolling ride over the hills and through the woods… crunching through the fall leaves … searching for some really cute kid-sized pumpkins! Visit includes hunting time, pumpkin decorating (no carving) & a farmyard visit with the animals too! See them as they are slowly getting ready for winter. Each child takes home their very own pumpkin masterpiece. Plan for 110 minutes.
Available all month but we recommend visiting the farm early so the pumpkin masterpieces can be admired by one and all for the entire month!
Minimum group size is 20 children.

to visit our Spring Babies!(mid April through to the end of June)
Farmyard visits with all the traditional Spring Babies! Very hands on!
You'll want to get right in there and try all the things you'd do if you lived on a farm.
You'll be asking all sorts of interesting questions, like:
Where do chickens lay their eggs?
How do I get milk out of that udder?
How warm is the wooly coat on that lamb?
These cute chicks grow up to be what?
Can you make a noise like a carrot? It makes the bunnies happy...
Can you understand now why goats are called 'kids'? (they've got P-E-R-S-O-N-A-L-I-T-Y!!)
Are children are called 'kids' because they act like little goats sometimes?
How big is a cow? Are there different kinds of cows?
Do piglets chew shoelaces?
How big is Ben the Belgian... how small is Pocket, our MINI donkey?
Who lives at the pond? Aunty Lucy's ducks, some geese, emus...what else? Who is Henry?
What do yaks look like?
Donkeys... are they really stubborn? Or just very intelligent and thoughtful?
Plan a visit to NURSERY RHYME PARK, put together by 2 of the teachers on staff... it too is action oriented, and great fun, perfect for your Nursery Rhyme unit at school.
even a big old wagon ride behind "Old Blue", our tractor!
