Special Day Camp Options:
  • Snack and Lunch Options
  • Butterfield Acres Bus Service
  • "Before and After Camp" Fun

Online registration will soon be in full swing. We're looking forward to another very fun, rewarding, enriching, and memorable summer camp program where we learn all sorts of awesome things about animals and ourselves! Learning embedded in camp fun (now, that's a secret to share!).

All Day Camps Run: Monday through Friday, (except the August holiday week which runs onlyTuesday to Friday due to the Monday holiday. Fees are reduced for this week).

Staff ...we start our search for excellent leaders to join our staff in early January each year, and always have a strong contingent of returning staff. Many of our staff were Butterfield Acres campers themselves.... some since they were 3 years old!!

Ratio: Max of 6 to 1, youngest age groups less

First Aid: Senior Leaders have First Aid Certification. Emergency Procedures and Frist Aid Procedures are reviewed, updated, and refreshed inhouse every June before camp starts with both Junior and Senior level staff.

Police Check: all new staff 16 years and older are required to produce a clear Police check.

Registration starts January 20 each year.

Please check for availability. Click here for an Online Summer Day Camp Application.

Yes,the best memories really are made at the farm!

A typical day might include ANYTHING and EVERYTHING!
    Such as...

    • Interacting with the animals in their pens...the joy and privledge of being 'up close and personal'
    • Learning to appreciate the many interesting things about each of the animals
    • Bottle feeding babies
    • Farm stories
    • Learning and animal activity challenges
    • Learning how to care for different animals
    • Feeding hay, chop and maybe even slop!
    • Daily, weekly chores
    • Farm games...we aim for inclusive farm-adapted games
    • Pond studies...there's a whole new world in our shallow sloughs!
    • Pony rides, donkey rides, a draft horse experience for campers in 8-11s & FIT (12-14yr Farmers-in-Training) ...remember how kids got to school 100 years ago?
    • Grooming animals
    • Back pasture adventures and hunts
    • Animal of the day farm craft
    • Tractor rides through the back pasture
    • Giving the animals clean fresh drinking water
    • Having fun with those good 'ol camp songs

There's even a last day "Hoedown"! for friends and family of campers .....just a cute, fun little ditty from each Day Camp Group!

Activities are tailored for your child's stage of development, attention span, motor skill development, physical endurance, and social skills. We work very hard at helping the children make new friends, meet up with old friends, and have a day day full of fun, camp challenge, and magical animal memories.

Each day we highlight an AMAZING farm animal with a delightful variety of hands-on activities which vary according to age and ability. We learn about all the different animals ...how to care for them, their habits, what they eat, etc. and we fit in all sorts of wonderful things that your child might be doing if you lived here on the farm with us!! In our opinion, the fresh air and countryside is where every child should spend their summer days!

Farmers in Training (for 12-14 year olds).
As the campers get older, more knowledgeable and responsible, they become increasingly involved in operating the farm with us.

These super-farmers do more in-depth animal care, knowledge building, record keeping, and observe elementary vet care if occasions should present themselves. And we add in a whole lot of fun and some leadership opportunities with other campers. This camp experience serves as a direct lead into our Junior Leader Development Program for the real keeners who have aspirations of eventually working here with us.
We're excited to see how these capable and enthusiastic young folks step up to the plate and amaze us!! It is not uncommon to find campers here for their 9th or 10th year!!!

    Friends visiting for the summer?
Every year we have more children coming to enjoy our Day Camps from other parts of the world. To date we've had campers from Hong Kong, Spain, China, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Mexico, France, California, New York, Texas, California, and of course from all across Canada!!! If you have a friend visiting for the summer and they're planning to attend camp with your child, put a special note on your form to let us know! Some families plan their vacations to Calgary around Butterfield Acres FARM CAMP! And the latest clever trick with some parents? They invite their own friends in from out of town...and have a great week catching up while their kids are off at camp together!! Such a clever idea.....
